Employee Engagement
| Management of a Trucking Company in Portland OR. Asks For Assistance With Union Avoidance, | ||
| "We are having a Union vote in two weeks, I'm don't know what to do", that's the phone call I received from a service company in the Northwest. The answer seemed too complex. Two weeks to go, and the management still thinks this is an employee issue. Spending all night researching the Union and the local by-laws for the specific union. I was able to send a Power Point presentation to the management group by 6 am, helping to educate them around why there employees may be looking for a union. |

Summary: This was not a union issue, but rather a management issue. A communication breakdown had occurred, without the realization from either side. Employees want to be heard and they will look for that person or group that lends the ear for what seem to be insurmountable issues within their workgroups. The team members voted down the union and management is taking steps to grow their relationships within their business. The steps they are taking today, are making huge progress towards building the business of tomorrow. |
