What is Kaizen (Ky 'zen)
- "Kai" means "change"
- "zen" means "good (for the better)"
- Gradual, orderly, and continuous improvement
- Ongoing improvement involving everyone
Kaizen events are:
- Highly focused, action oriented events lasting 3-5 days
- Also Know As: Rapid Improvement Events or Blitz Projects
- Empowering for the team
- Immediate action oriented
- Used to improve a specific process
- Waste removal events
- An improvement process that can improve ANY process
- Never ending improvement
Kaizen events use the DMAIC Model
Identify the objectives and scope of the event
Train the team
Analyze the current state (as-is)
Define the future state (to-be)
Define the gap between the two
Implement improvements during the event
Create a 30-45 day implementation plan & action plan

Day 1-Define and Measure:
Discuss the business case and set goals
